Amsterdam: A Travelers Dream

Every traveler I have met that hasn’t been to Amsterdam yet certainly has it high on their list of places to visit. That’s because it has so much to offer and such a great sense of freedom.

The city was even given the title of being the second best city to visit by The Lonely Planet, that’s certainly a very big vote of approval. I can certainly agree with that statement, I fell in love with the city as soon as I arrived and have been back over 5 different times.

So what is it that blew me away and left me wanting more?

It’s Warm and Welcoming

One of the big things that Amsterdam has going for it is the people that live there. On your visit you will see that the inhabitants are from every religion, culture, country and colour of skin – and they all get along with one another. It doesn’t matter where you come from or even what language you speak, because the city of Amsterdam will welcome you with open arms. It’s so easy to strike up a conversation with anyone here.

Shopping Heaven

As with most bustling cities, Amsterdam is extremely proud of the shopping it offers locals and visitors. You’ll find every type of shopping here; high class shopping malls, trendy boutiques, flea markets plus arts and crafts.

It’s Affordable

One of my main concerns when going on holiday is how much it will cost, that’s where Amsterdam really excels. Hotels in Amsterdam are extremely affordable and there are options for every type of budget. Whether it’s a stag do, romantic weekend away or you’re backpacking around the world, it’s easy to find something for you. There are plenty of hostels available right up to 5 star luxury.

Have you been to Amsterdam recently? I’d love to hear what you thought about the city and also what you loved.
