5 Reasons Prague Is My Favourite City In Europe

Prague is definitely one of most favourite cities and Europe and the world, I also happen to think it is one of the most beautiful. It has everything a great European should, with some added features that make it so unique. Here are some of the reasons that I think Prague is the most beautiful city in Europe.

Bunkr Parukarka

Prague’s Cold War past can be seen in many places in the city and Bunkr Parkarka is one great example of this. This 50s bunker was built to protect against nuclear attacks and has today become a nightclub like no other. As you walk in the graffitied door into the hillside you will experience the feeling of ultimate protection from the outside world. Top this off with some great music from some of the best DJs and you have the perfect place to enjoy one of the best night activities in Prague and certainly one of the most unique.

The Charles Bridge

This is one of Prague’s most beautiful bridges and the architecture really makes it beautiful with a number of arches and Baroque statues. The bridge is also extremely old and was built in in the 1300s. The bridge is a great place to look over the city and the mighty Vltava River

Zizov

This former industrial neighbourhood is without a doubt the home of nightlife in Prague, especially when you consider that there are over 300 bars in a relatively small area (5 square kilometre). You can never be bored here and there truly is something for everyone here with many great dive bars to choose from.

Petrin Hill

This beautiful green space is a great place to relax, explore and enjoy. There are beautifully landscaped gardens, a mirror maze and even a wooden church that was located from a village in the Ukraine. It truly is a quirky thing to see in a place like Prague, but that makes it all the more unique. Petrin Hill is definitely a place to visit and makes Prague so beautiful and unique.

The sculptures of David Cerny

David Cerny has some extremely famous and novel looking sculptures that dot the city of Prague and he has certainly become the most famous sculptor in the Czech Republic. The most famous example has to be Babies, which are giant sculptures of babies that are placed on the Zizkov Television Tower. It is an interesting sight to see and not something that I have seen in any other city in the world. He also has a number of other novel creations such as Brownnosers and Piss. Don’t look those up though, leave the surprise for when you get there!
