The whole idea of us working hard, saving money and booking a holiday, is so we can have a stress free few weeks away from the hustle and bustle of home. But how many of us have been pulling our hair out the night before getting ready or searching for passports? This is not the way we want our time away to get started.
With a bit of careful planning it’s easy to make sure that you get on the plane completely relaxed and looking forward to what’s ahead. You don’t want to be sat there just thankful you made the flight on time or worrying that you didn’t pack your flip flops!
I’ve had some really terrible starts to holidays, it’s these experiences that have left me feeling like a real pro when it comes to organising my getaways. So I thought I’d take the chance to put down some essential bits of advice that will help us all be better prepared next time. Do you have any invaluable advice to share? I’d love to hear it, so just pop your thoughts down in the comment box below.
Make a list
This sounds so easy but really how many of us do it? Make a list of everything that you need to bring and slowly work through it over the month before you fly. I’m sure you won’t be needing your bikini or sunglasses beforehand, so why not tick them off the list and pack them in advance? Go through the list meticulously and always make sure you double check that your passport is in there!
Treat yourself to a night in a hotel
So you’re probably thinking this isn’t essential, think again! I always book a night in an airport hotel before I fly. It means that you get a good rest and can get to the airport without any stress at all. No one likes to be tearing down the motorway the morning of their flight, it’s so much better to have some breakfast and hop in a free shuttle bus to get to check in. Hotels near to Manchester Airport are absolutely fantastic so don’t forget to book one early so you get a great deal!
Do your research
You need to know some information about your destination and most of all about how you’re going to get to the hotel. Try to organise a pick up or find out how much a taxi should be so you avoid paying over the odds. It’s always a great idea to change up some of the local currency in case you need it when you land, the last thing you want to be doing is queuing up to exchange cash when all you want to do is be sipping on a cocktail by the pool!
If you’re looking for great deals on airport hotels before you fly then do what I do and head to AirportHotels.com, you won’t find a better selection or better rates anywhere else on the web!
