I am sure that a lot of you have been fortunate enough to visit Cornwall at some point in your lives; it’s probably one of the most popular destinations in the UK for a weekend break. I love heading down there to escape the hoards of people in London, my number one spot down there is Perranporth. It’s got a great beach, lovely weather and the air is clean!
I now love the place even more because I have found the perfect place to stay when I visit, I have been camping in Cornwall before but tried a new place to pitch my tent this year. After a recommendation from a friend I booked my girlfriend and I in at the Perran Springs Holiday Park, I am so happy that I listened to his advice! It was every bit as good as he said it would be; the staff are friendly, the location perfect and the facilities absolutely spot on. It is an absolute gem!
When you arrive at the park you can feel a certain air of calm and peace, you know that you are a million miles away from the ‘big city’ and it’s time to relax. The first thing I noticed when we were shown our pitch is just how big it was, I have been camping a few times and I can tell you that other parks are not so generous. I am quite a stickler when it comes to detail and everything being in order, but with the way that this site is maintained I couldn’t find a single fault!
When you go camping you of course expect to share communal washing areas and toilets. Anyone who has been to a bad campsite will tell you that if the communal areas are not looked after it can really ruin the trip. Perran Springs have such high standards that their washrooms won an award back in 2010, I think that goes to show how seriously they take the comfort of their guests.
My girlfriend isn’t into fishing so we didn’t try to hook any fish when we were at the park but we did enjoy walking around the lakes. The park boasts 3 fantastic lakes which are an ideal place for any enthusiast to pass a weekend in peace, there were quite a few people taking full advantage of the fishing when we were there. We met one man who had been allowed to fish all day whilst his wife took the kids to Perranporth beach, in my opinion the beach is a much more attractive option because it’s beautiful!
After a couple of great nights a Perran Springs we had to hop back in the car and head back to London, we were genuinely sad to be leaving because we had such a fantastic weekend. I can’t recommend the place enough and we will certainly be back soon, next time we will be bringing some friends with us as well.
