Staying in holiday cottage is something that I can highly recommend doing, especially when it comes to a shorter break like a weekend or long weekend. I wanted to take the time to write about why I love getting out into the great outdoors and staying in a holiday cottage. So read on to find out more.
Value for money
One thing that you notice about holiday cottages is that you get a much better value for money than staying in a hotel, but you also get an experience that in many ways can match or be even better than a hotel. This is particularly the case if you opt for a more luxurious cottage.
More room to move
One thing about a hotel room is that it is nice, but there isn’t a lot of room to move around. Most rooms are designed for only two people and this can be difficult if you have a bigger family. With a holiday cottage you can very easily get the whole family to come along.
Home, but away from home
One of the best reasons to take a weekend break in a holiday cottage is because of the fact that staying in one provides you with all the comforts of being at home, but away from home of course. I find them to be more comfortable than a hotel because you are living more similarly to how you would be at home and I really appreciate this over a long weekend.
It is less formal
Checking into a hotel can be a lengthy process and seem a bit too official for a weekend away when you want to maximise your time. By hiring a holiday cottage you can quite simply get in and start enjoying things without the fuss of a huge check in and checkout process.
Getting into the outdoors
Most hotels and other forms of accommodation are located closer to cities, towns and airports. This means that they are not a great option if you are opting to get into the great outdoors. I absolutely love the fact that you can get out into nature by staying in a holiday cottage. This is, for me, a much better experience for getting out into the forests and parks and having a great time, whilst still being able to enjoy the home comforts that you are used to. I like to think of it as a more formal camping trip!
