I have done some great things whilst I’ve been on the road, some were a little scarier than others, some things I would love to do again and some just get pushed into the ‘got to try it once’ category. One thing that I always talk about when it comes to travelling is that you need to get some decent insurance before you go, whether you are going for a relaxing holiday or if you are going on a big adventure, insurance is a must have! If you want to check out some great insurance then be sure to look at some greay insurance companies like Southern Cross Travel Insurance for example. So here’s some of the most adventurous things I have done.
Bungee Jumping
Leaping off the Macau tower, the world’s highest bungee jump, has to be one of the most adventurous things that I have ever done! It is so unbelievably scary that I still to this day do not know how I managed to do it! It is over 225 meters high! I had such an amazing time, well, that was after I jumped. The adrenalin pumping through my veins when I was stood on the ledge was ridiculous! Oh, did I mention that I hate heights?
Skydiving
Right, I know I said that I hate heights but I had to do this for charity. Jumping out of a perfectly good plane was always something I thought that crazy people did for fun, I am so happy that I joined that group! Yes, I was absolutely petrified but the free fall was one of the best things that I have ever done in my life. Going at such a speed towards the earth really was something special and I will never ever forget it!
Working in a refugee camp
Before I did any travelling I went to Thailand to teach English for 3 months. I was living and working in the north west of Thailand in one of the 9 refugee camps there, my 3 month trip turned into 4 years! It was without doubt the most adventurous thing I have ever done. Living with the people there, in a culture I didn’t know and also experiencing what i would call ‘real life’ was the most eye opening thing I have ever done. It also allowed me to help, I built three schools during my time there and return each year to meet the friends that I made. I really don’t know how to describe what I learned there and everything I experienced, I am just thankful that I was able to do it and learn so many things.
