The Best Devon Landscapes

England is blessed with so many beautiful counties; one of the jewels in the crown is undoubtedly Devon. For the avid photographer it has so much to offer whether it is the county’s interior or the rugged coastline Devon landscape photography is a must. If, however, you are like me and are rather secondhand in the camera department there are few very good photographic artists and their work can be purchased in outlets throughout the county and online. You may, as my wife and I did, commission a particularly special place and have an everlasting and treasured memento.

The love of Devon landscape photography has a rich history and over many years has inspired Devonians and lured visitors to put down roots in this magical county in pursuit of the of the photo opportunities the area has to offer. The coastline of Devon is predominantly in the south east of the county stretching from Axminster in the north down to as far as Dartmoor taking in the resorts of Torquay and Paignton among others. It then makes a sharp left towards Salcombe finally reaching Plymouth. The north west coast is home to Clovelly at southern end and winds it’s way to Lynton and Lynmouth in the northern most point of the county, in between lay Croyd, Woolacombe and Ilfracombe.

For the photo enthusiast Devon offers swathes of luscious startling and stunning open countryside and Dartmoor has everything the keen green outdoors person could wish for. Natural is the key word for Dartmoor and many parts of it have been designated Special Areas Of Conservation. So, if photographic images of the famous ponies or farmers on horseback, isolated tors, ancient settlement ruins, rare butterflies and birds are your thing this is definitely the place for you. A few things to be wary of are bumping in to the Royal Marines on one of their training exercises, the hound of the Baskervilles and the prison, you wouldn’t want a prolonged holiday after all.

As I have stated, I’m no great shakes with a camera so I commissioned a professional to snap the house my late father owned and where we spent many a happy childhood summer. Sadly the family no longer owns the house so to set my memories in stone we hired a photographer to capture, with the owner’s permission, the house under a stunning Devon skyline. I now feel like I own the property for life and for those of us wishing to buy Devon landscapes prints it couldn’t be easier – just check out http://devon-photography.com/ for everything you need. The photos included in this post are from devon-photography and we can’t recommend them enough!
