Thailand: The land of smiles is the place to go this year

Thailand has been a popular tourist destination for many years now, with it’s great weather, friendly people, fantastic food and affordable prices, it is no reason that has not lost it’s appeal. I have been to Thailand over ten times, I can honestly say that I never get bored of going because the country is my favourite country on the whole planet! There are so many things to do there, you can head north to go trekking and to experience wildlife or you can head south to the beautiful white beaches and crystal clear waters. Thailand holidays are the best that I have been on, I have even brought my whole family out there so they can see for themselves this country that I never stop talking about. The exchange rate is now better than it has been for many years which means that your money will go a lot further and your holiday will cost you less than it would have done 10 years ago. Here are the main reasons that keep me heading back to Thailand time and time again.

The Weather

For the majority of the year the weather is absolutely fantastic in Thailand. There are two months, July and August, which are known as the ‘rainy season’ when it will rain quite a bit, but don’t let this put you off! The temperature is hot all year round, the sun is shining and everyone is happy. The best months to visit are December to January, the weather is cooler in the evenings and hot during the day. The weather is always great, sun is shining through out the year so it makes for a great holiday. Head down south to the beaches to soak up the sun and lounger on the beach.

The Food

Hands down, Thailand has the best food in the world! Yes, that is a very bold statement but it’s true. From top restaurants to street food, Thailand never fails to impress with it’s cuisine. If you are thinking about dieting then leave those ideas at home, it is a crime not to go to Thailand and indulge in all of the food that is on offer. The base of most dishes is rice, then you will have some meat dish with it. The food can be quite spicy so make sure that you let the waiter or waitress know if you want less of a kick in your meal. I can guarantee that you will absolutely love everything that you try, my favourite is Pad Krapow. Pad Krapow is meat, chilli and basil stir fried together – an absolute treat at anytime of day.

The People

Not only does Thailand have the best food it also has the friendliest people that you will meet. It is not called the land of smiles for nothing, people here seem to smile all the time and are always willing to help. I have had some great experiences even though I could not chat properly with people, body language says everything! There is nothing better than walking down the road smiling at people and them returning the smile, that doesn’t happen in my home town of London!
