Central America 2010

Home Sweet Home

Yesterday was my first full day back in the states.  I’ve made time to catch up with friends and family, and have even started working again in the past 48 hours.  It has been a bit of a whirlwind and honestly, even though I was only gone for five weeks, I’ve already noticed some things I’ve got to adjust to back at home, like not speaking Spanish to random strangers.  I did this about three times in the airport just on the way home and most of the time I was greeted with a dumbfounded look as a reply.  I’m not sure whether they either had no idea what I was saying or whether they were wondering why this white guy was speaking Spanish to them.

This past five weeks has taught me a lot about myself, and has helped me shape my potential plans for the next couple of years.  I’ve realized that I have a unique opportunity with my current job to be able to travel and not have to worry about being able to pay for things back home.  I’ve decided that not taking advantage of this opportunity for at least a couple of years would probably be something I would deeply regret in the future.  I don’t know exactly what the future holds in terms of travel for me, but I do know that over the next two years I will be traveling the world at any opportunity I get.

My next trip will not be until December of this year, which, honestly, is way too far away for my liking.  I’ll be keeping the site going during this time with photos from this past trip, as well as different articles about traveling and reflections on my trip.  In the meantime, check out my upcoming travels page as I start planning my next trips.

I highly recommend Nicaragua, it was my favorite country and I haven’t met anyone yet who didn’t like it. I kind of skipped Costa Rica, only spending two days to travel through it, the prices were outrageous and I wanted to stretch my dollar. Arrived in Panama a week ago and the prices are more reasonable and it seems nice so far.

Well I’m leaving it up to the poll on my “upcoming travels” page so whatever wins on that page is where I’m going! But yea, Nicaragua is definitely somewhere I really really want to go.
